Interviews

Read below about some of the biggest artists in the business before they come to perform in Hong Kong and Macau.

Always differing your sets in accordance to where you play, what the atmosphere is like and the mood you are in for the night; what can we expect from your upcoming performance in ZoukOut?

I can’t tell you right now, because I can’t know how the atmosphere, the vibe, the audience and my mood are. And since I never played at ZoukOut-Festival before, I will be surprised also, I guess.

Known for being able to play Deep House to Techno to Big Room Bangers; how do you choose which style to go for when it comes to specific performances?

I will play according to the theme of the night.

Known for playing blends of Funk, Disco, House and Hip Hop beats; what has inspired you to get into the career of DJ-ing and was there any special moments during childhood which drove you into being passionate for such music?

The idea of being able to make a huge number of people dance with music inspired me to start a career in DJing. Since I was a kid I’ve also loved music as my dad has a huge collection of CDs.

Being one of the longest residents at Zouk Singapore main room; where else have you played at that you especially enjoyed? What makes it so memorable?

I enjoyed playing Pacha Ibiza, Space Ibiza, Green Valley Brazil & club M2 Seoul. A good responsive crowd + great sound system made those gigs memorable.

Coming from a musically talented family; do you see that as being stressful or complimenting to the careers you are engaged with now?

Music was in the air and that’s always a good thing. It was stressful for me for a while because they are so talented and I didn't wanted to let them down. Now it is nice and one of my projects is to make music with my family one day. Imagine me making record with my grandmother!?!

Busy P is surely dedicated to his name. A man of several identities, he just finished a meeting and another phone interview before picking up our long distance call from the headquarters of Warner Music Hong Kong. With the promotions for Blohk Party growing as strong as ever; it’s hard not to anticipate for all the major acts that will be performing in Hong Kong from across the world. Same goes for Busy P himself as he tells us about his upcoming plans for Ed Banger, his own musical expressions and his preparations for Blohk Party Hong Kong with excitement and enthusiasm.

Will this be your first show in Hong Kong?   Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?

It's the first time I've been to Hong Kong, and I'm really looking forward to getting a taste of the nightlife on offer.  It looks already like a city with a great vibe and a really cool party atmosphere.  I also can't wait to sample some authentic food, and trying something new that we can't get over in the UK - I know there's plenty of good things to try!

Happening tonight, the Mnet Asian Music Awards will be kick starting in Hong Kong this year. Obviously piled with a load of amazing Asian line ups; we can’t help but to also anticipate for the international celebrity performance also happening at the event.

Will this be your first show in Hong Kong?   Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?

Yeah it is! You know what, I know very little about Hong Kong so I'm really looking forward to have a look around… I have a couple of mates out there who've promised to show me some cool s**t.

Will this be your first show in China?   Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?

Yes it will be my first China show. I have played all over the world in the last few years but not China yet. I like the fact that I am going somewhere with no expectations, at least gigs wise, and I am very excited about seeing the place, China has a rich history and culture and I want to experience as much as I can while I am over there.
