They are one of those bands that have successfully attracted not only rock lovers; but all those other listeners who are completely not familiar with the genre. Ever since 2004, these 5 passionate youngsters; Rocky (Vocal), Man Man and Au Boy (Guitar) (with one unable to attend the interview), Sai Lo (Bass) and Gould (Drums) have strived for recognition amongst the local music industry as well as abroad, winning “Global Battle of the Bands” in China during 2008. From then on, they never stopped and have released their first album 3 years ago, delivering their modern rock music to the general public. As a complete newbie in such a genre, I had so much fun talking to these exciting faces as they journey me through their musical travels with Guinness’ Paint the Town Black event.

The voice of the band, vocal Rocky was eager to tell me the inspirations they got by playing at the event that night.
So what does Guinness stand for you?
It’s that super edgy, dark, and manly drink we got introduced to by our manager.

Was there a special moment you shared with Guinness?
We are honored to be appointed as the band to write the theme song for this campaign. It was a refreshing experience as the style of the song is nothing like what the band usually creates. It has a much steadier tempo, a simple tune, and is very catchy. The melody encourages interaction, and we never had a song that involves the audience so much, with clapping moments and repeated lyrics for all to sing to. It is a lovely turning point for us and we wish to compose songs in the near future with such an aesthetic to it too.

Anything interesting that happened when you enjoy your Guinness?
As mentioned, it’s a very masculine and cool drink. It’s much more impressive to order this at a bar than to order any other beverages I think. I was also served once chocolate liquor induced glass of Guinness, it was really amazing!

What about the theme? How does “Paint the Town Black” translate for you?
Yes, we’re all in black today. I don’t know why bands usually go for the color black too. I believe we got inspired by band tees we use to get, and they were almost always black. So it caught on and now it’s our favorite color for the wardrobe too!
With Rocky's crisp voice and the lovely performance by every member of the band; I have to admit some of my friends and I are already all over the search engine looking for Killersoap's songs and performances.
