So, what is wcity.com all about?

wcity.com is a guide set up as a key source of information on the latest events, hospitality and lifestyle news that surround local and international brands in Hong Kong.

Why did you launch the publication?

In 1999 our team launched www.hkclubbing.com as the city lacked a comprehensive guide to nightlife. Naturally our network exposed us to a lot more insider news besides pure nightlife, so we launched wcity.com as a place to share that with our fans and visitors.

What is the difference between wcity.com and other news/ lifestyle type guides in Hong Kong?

Brands play a big part in peoples’ lives. We set out to build a profile on each, allowing people to follow the particular brands they love and what they are doing in Hong Kong. We strive to find quality original content, rather than just relying on stories and news sent via the usual PR channels. On all our platforms, we make sure we have the most comprehensive and up to date set of relevant content to differentiate ourselves from any other publication. We've seen plenty of guides come and go over the years. Consistent and reliable updates is what keeps our visitors coming back.

When did you start and what has it been like setting the website/s up?

hkclubbing.com has been operating for 20 years and wcity.com for over 5 years. Now more than ever, in the age of social media, it takes a lot of effort to get people’s attention. For visitors to take a website seriously with the incredible amount of information out there, you really have to be offering something unique. We get a lot of visitors who would not find the information on our sites anywhere else, so it’s a great feeling knowing that the value is being appreciated.

What would you say has been the most rewarding achievement by launching the website?

Our business is all about people, and making new connections offline is something that is certainly lacking these days. When we hear of good friendships that started at events discovered through our websites, it’s great to hear.

How do you keep the website/s going?

We run a wide variety of services from marketing, written online content, events and social media. The websites complement all of these services. We tailor custom packages for each of our clients, as each has its own requirements. You can find out more at www.entertainingasia.com.
