On 23 October 2024, Galaxy Macau™ proudly announced the grand opening of Raffles at Galaxy Macau, further cementing its status as a premier destination for luxury hospitality. One of the standout features of this new property is the world’s first speakeasy interpretation of the legendary Raffles Long Bar, a venue steeped in history and known for creating the iconic Singapore Sling in 1915. Now, this iconic bar takes on a fresh, adventurous twist in its Macau incarnation.
Inspired by Macau’s rich maritime history, particularly the 1500s spice trade brought by Portuguese explorers, the Raffles Long Bar at Galaxy Macau is designed to feel like a hidden subterranean retreat. Guests enter through a nautical-themed porthole door and are greeted by a cavernous interior, crafted by acclaimed Hong Kong designer Joyce Wang. The bar’s ambiance is reminiscent of coastal caves once filled with sailors and hidden treasures, creating an air of intrigue and discovery.
The drink menu is expertly curated by award-winning mixologist Antonio Lai, who brings his unique flair to the Long Bar’s offerings. Drawing on the early days of gin-making, Lai crafts vintage gin-based cocktails infused with spices like cloves, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg—spices that once made their way to Macau via Portuguese trading ships. Each cocktail tells a story, blending historical ingredients with modern mixology techniques to create an unforgettable drinking experience.
Adding to the immersive atmosphere, the Long Bar features live vinyl DJ sets, enhancing the speakeasy vibe with a fusion of vintage charm and contemporary nightlife energy. This hidden gem at Raffles promises to be a must-visit destination for cocktail connoisseurs and explorers seeking something beyond the ordinary.
As part of Raffles at Galaxy Macau’s grand opening, the Long Bar joins an impressive lineup of luxury dining and hospitality experiences that further elevate Galaxy Macau’s reputation as a top destination in the region. With this speakeasy Long Bar, Raffles continues its tradition of redefining luxury while embracing Macau’s unique cultural and historical heritage.
