ImageKid Capri was set to perform in Hong Kong tomorrow at Club Ing but we just received news that he has a high fever and is in Hospital.

The doctors have said that he is not fit to DJ at the club tomorrow and therefore the event has been cancelled and full refund will be given to those who have already paid in advance.

We wish Kid Capri a speedy recovering from this fever and we hope that he can come back to Hong Kong when he is better.

ImageHong Kong's DJ Clayton will be headlining at Joint 15 tonight. Expect a mix of tunes from trance to progressive in the 2 hour show.

The club has been hosting regular nights each week featuring all of the best DJs in Hong Kong and now with the return of Clayton from Canda the list is almost complete.

Check out the clubs special drinks promotion too and get over the Causeway Bay!

GARY GECKO
2005 Sound of IBIZA TOUR

only at 1/5
Friday July 1st

For just over 5 years now DJ Gary's been running Gecko,
one of the coolest beach venues in the world.
Open day and night 365 days a year and set in the
tropical paradise of Bophut beach on Koh Samui, Thailand.

Gary's certainly no newcomer to the music industry.
With 17 years of DJing and gigs in every continent under his belt,
You can see why Gecko Samui has one of the most incredible music policies on Earth !
Gecko has become a place where dreams come to life and it's all down to this man!

As Resident & owner @ Gecko, Gary's invited the cream of the worlds djs to play
at his all day "Sunday Sessions" & "Love it" parties. It didn’t take much persuading!
DJs play totally in & out of character and let themselves be drawn into the Gecko vibe.
His Guests play whatever they feel is right at the time and it works perfectly!

just within the last year or so, Big Events with…
Dave Seaman, Jon Carter, Smokin’ Jo, Brandon Block, Shovell, Krafty Kuts,
Clive Henry (Peace Division), Lisa Loud, Jo Mills, Max Graham, Nightmares on Wax,
Hoxton Whores, Tim Sheridan, Gee Moore, Rob Roar (Max Linen)
B.L.I.M, Freestylers, Anthony Pappa and Ricardo Villalobos
to name but a few and Ministry of Sound (World Tour- ‘Asia End Party’)
Circo Loco(DC10), Organised Kaos, Renaissance,
Big Beat Boutique, Cafe Mambo and Club Q (Zurich)
have all flown in to Samui for Gecko Madness
alongside the Die-Hard Partyman himself!

"I’ll let you into a little secret .. this place is superior to any of the
Ibiza sunset strip joints in every way"
MoS UK

"Gary's Love It parties at Gecko have legendary potential"
DJ Mag May 03

2003 Gary's 'Gecko Tour' takes him back to Europe
in the hottest summer on record!

LONDON: Ministry of Sound, Sputnik @ Glasshouse
IBIZA: Bora Bora, Kanya, Cafe Mambo, Base, Kumharas
ST.TROPEZ/MONTE CARLO: Niki Beach, Lagon Plage
ZURICH: Street Parade, Zoo Club

“Gary’s been casually enticing people off the beach with party anthem
after party anthem and not only is it going right off,
but if it wasn’t for all the smiles..
..you’d probably need to send in the riot police.”
DJ Mag Ibiza Sept 2003

"There's people dancing on tables, chairs, sunbeds, you name it -
if it's got room for pair of feet, then it's probably being jumped on."
DJ Mag Ibiza Sept 2003

2004

2004 Was an amazing year for Gary..
After starting the year off at Gecko Samui with some unforgettable
Beach Parties and in high demand, DJing
at all of the top venues in Bangkok including Narcisis and
The Met bar along with live radio sets on 102.5 FM (Thailand)
He set Europe alight yet again.. on a much larger scale!!

Kicking off with a wicked set at Dave Beer’s Crazy Back 2 Basics in Leeds,
Gary landed in Ibiza on the following Monday morning with a bang!
Straight into Circo Loco at DC10 and literally Blew up the terrace!
It was then onto Bora Bora and the first gig of Gary and Bora Bora’s Gee Moore
Joint venture.. Sun of a Beach World Tour

After a marathon 8 hour set in a packed Bora Bora, it was off to Cream @ Amnesia
on the same night where Gary rocked yet another Terrace straight after Tiesto!

It was then back to London again where Gee and Gary were top of the bill
@ Pacha in the main room in front of a big “Home Crowd”
(Though.. neither of them live there any more)

Next for Gary was a Nutty Circo Loco party @ the new Egg club in London
With Terry Farley, Jo Mills, Tania Vulkano and the Back 2 Basics
Boys, Dave Beer and Paul Woolford.

After that it was off to Zurich for the Street Parade where Gary was
Invited back to play on Club Q’s “Love Mobile”
in front of a biggest ever crowd of one million people.
Gee came along this time and the two of them rocked the after party
at Q in the “Sun of a Beach” main room

It was another Street Parade the week after that, this time in Rotterdam
where two Garys, Gecko and Gary Dedman (Hoxton Whores)
Rocked the UDG float with 400,000 people getting amongst it with em!

The following weekend proved to be the an even bigger success
than the previous couple of weeks, when The Sun of a Beach Tour hit
Clapham Common in South London @ SW4 !
With Sasha and Morillo (main stage) and Xpress2 & Tall Paul in the Heat Arena
Gary and Gee had their work cut out in the Sun of a Beach Arena..

..And Boy did this gig go right off!.....

The floor was packed from start to finish!

Gary and Gee then went on and blew up the Ministry of Sound in Taipei
With a fantastic back to back set!
The whole club was decked out like a beach with palm trees, sand the lot!

It was then onto Manila for the 5th annual Cream Halloween ball with over
3,000 people going crazy in costumes at the NBC Tent.

Then it was onto the paradise island of Boracay for a wicked beach party at “Hey Jude”
Then back to Bangkok where Gary and Gee hit the Met bar together in front of the
TV cameras for Channel V

It was then back to Gecko for two of the biggest parties that Gary has ever organized…
The first was the New Years Eve event..
This was an amazing night with over 1,200 people (a record for Gecko) …

..And the second was one of the most incredible line-up of DJs ever assembled in the
world all in one arena… and believe it or not this event was pulled off in just 5 days.
All in aid of the Tsunami disaster..

Gary has since been asked to play at the MTV Asia awards which is also a
fundraising event for Tsunami relief.

On the Production side of Things

Whilst in London last summer, between gigs, Gary got together with old friends
percussionist “Shovell” (previously of M- People)..

..and The Hoxton Whores at their
Brick Lane recording studio and together they co-wrote an absolute
“Bomb” of a track, aptly entitled……

“BOMB THE TERRACE”
GECKO & SHOVELL VS HOXTON WHORES

After giving out just 2 CDRs of this track, before even one
test pressing had been made they found themselves sitting at
Number 7 in the DMC BUZZ Chart on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show (August)

Released early October, Bomb the Terrace reached
Number 7 in the HYPE CHART, Issue 375 of DJ Magazine.
Seb Fontaine is also a big fan of the track, Number 3 in his September Top 10!

As if one big track wasn’t enough, Gary found himself on the other end of
a phone call from Jon Carter and within 2 days he’d postponed his flight
back to Thailand and was back at Brick Lane
studio with Jon and the Hoxton Whores again!

“DOUBLE DROP’
GECKO & JON CARTER VS HOXTON WHORES

Double Drop was co- written by Gecko, Jon Carter & Hoxton Whores
This one’s just as crazy as the first track if not more and DJs waited impatiently
for pressings after Jon Carter let it loose in Amnesia and the place went Completely Nuts!
Erik Morillo tipped this to be massive when he included it in his top 10 future releases in Mixmag Oct
Now being played by A-list DJs including Fat Boy Slim, Morillo, Tong, Lawler, Lisa Loud the list goes on..
Double Drop was also named Essential Tune of the week on Pete Tong’s radio 1 show
Dec 5th and placed high up in the Buzz and Coolcuts charts.

Gary and Gee also Knocked up a cracking tune together with Dave “Pig Bwoy” from the band Futon.

“DON’T YOU KNOW?”
GECKO & GEE VS PIG BWOY
(GARY GECKO’S TEAR ARSE TERRACE MIX)

“Don’t You Know?” was co- written by Gecko, Gee Moore & Pig Bwoy

Soon to be pressed up, the original mix took the roof off at Heaven in London in front of Danny Tennaglia
and 3,000 crazy Bora Bora fans! .. Now Gary has taken it to pieces and pulled a real future classic out of the bag!!
This mix is getting rave reviews before any pressings have even been done!

Gary is also currently working on Gecko’s debut compilation album

“GECKO BEACH – FAR AWAY IN TIME”
compiled and mixed by Gary Gecko

Out Soon… Watch the space!

So.. Where did it all start then.. ?

Londoner Gary's no newcomer when it comes to the dance music scene...
Inspired by the smoke and lights of London's original sweaty underground clubs..
Rampling's "Shoom" in S.E.1, Lisa & Nancy's "Loud Noise" and "Future" @ Sound Shaft,
with "Spectrum" Just next door @ Heaven.... for him, it was exactly that !
Stick a couple of weeks in Ibiza in with all that,
getting amongst it under the stars @ Amnesia...
.. and he was hooked!

The sounds of Chicago Acid House Trax, Mr Fingers, Marshall Jefferson,
Adonis, Nightwriters & co, blending incredibly with the Balearic anthems of
Yellow, The Wooden Tops, The Residents and Thrashing Doves
catapulted Gary straight into the record shops.

Music had no boundaries for Gary after that and he found himself experimenting
“expanding the limits of House music” (Musically of Course)

Partying was and still is his favourite pastime and
with the amount that man was doing then, he listened to a lot of music
and built up an unbelievable record collection fast!

After what Gary called "an 18 month apprenticeship", getting his foot in the door at
all of the top clubs and outdoor venues in Tenerife,
he decided it was time to head back and assault London’s clubs..
..only this time, not just as a spectator!

Close friends Blaine and Barry Ashworth (now with Dub Pistols)
had opened De Ja Vu records in Covent Garden.
It was while playing in the shop that Gary met Darren Emmerson.

They went on to be residents together for more than a year
@ "Foreplay" in the Gass and "Naked Lunch" @ The Emporium.

From then on, Gary established himself more and more playing
in various clubs and events around London and the UK before deciding it was too
cold for him in London SE3 and time
to broaden his horizons and head for sunnier climbs

onto playing Ibiza, Mote Carlo, Brazil, Hong Kong, Bangkok, ..

..wherever the music takes him.

The rest, as we say...

..IS HISTORY!

Until now, Gary is still playing alongside the cream of the worlds DJs
in every continent..
from Brighton to Rio de Janeiro !

Phew..! Where does he find time for a little fun…?

Jimmy Van M's interview

Describe yourself in five words: Obsessive, Obsessive, Obsessive, Obsessive, Obsessive,

What’s your sound? Fresh

How did you get interested in DJing and when did you start? For me it started at Pleasure Island, Disney World, Florida. A nightclub called Mannequins with a rotating dance floor and lots drinks called long island ice teas.

Is being a DJ your full-time job? Yes

What is the best/worst experience you’ve had? Best – cant remember / Worst – refuse to remember

What makes you stand out from all the other DJs? That’s hard to say, I imagine my selection in music and the way I put it together is what sets me apart.

The ultimate 5-song mix – either something you play, or something you’d like to hear

1. Beatbox (diversion 1) – Art of Noise
2. Happiest Days of our lives – Pink Floyd
3. Halloween rmx – Ministry
4. Cities in Dust - Siouxsie and the Banshess
5. Swamp – Talking Heads

Tell me one thing most people don’t know about DJs: They are all obsessive

What do you do to chill out? Take Valium

Have you performed in other countries? Any favorites? Yes, Argentina

What led you to Hong Kong? The vibe

What are your plans for the future? Keep Having Fun
