Will this be your first show in Hong Kong? Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?
Yes - my first show in Hong Kong. I've been wanting to come here for years. I hear the food and sightseeing is amazing. it's sounds like a really interesting mix of cultures.
How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?
The technology and music have changed a lot. DJ'ing to me has become more musical, more fun, and much more about the fans than ever. It's more of a proper "show" now where the DJ is the main focus, not the background. It's crazy that now you can make amazing pro-quality music with just a laptop.
What was your favourite memory of 2012/beginning of 2013 and what would you like to achieve before 2013 is over?
Headlining at Global Dance at Red Rocks was amazing - such a beautiful venue. Before the end of 2013 I'll be playing a lot of big festivals, but hopefully continuing to expand and play in new countries. I'm working on book right now aimed at producers and creative types that is really exciting.
What can we expect from your upcoming performance at PLAY?
I'll be playing lots of progressive and electro house.. lots of familiar tracks but also brand new originals nobody has heard yet. I usually do a lot of edits and mashups, and those are a big part of my sets.
Aside from your DJ equipment, name you top three touring essentials.
1. Bose headphones
2. Hyperjuice battery pack
3. Blue Snowball mic, so I can do my podcast.
Tell us a story from tour that shocked you?
In Brazil I was held up at gunpoint, but was naive enough to think the person wasn't serious. eventually they gave up.
Do you have any pre gig rituals?
I like to be prepared so i'm always bouncing down new edits and mixdowns.. I bring two computers, one for touring and one for production.
Usually up until the last minute I'm prepping music.
Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers / artists at the moment?
My current favorites are Dyro and Maor Levi.
If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?
Maybe I'd be a photographer or graphic designer - I love both of those fields.
