Will this be your first show in Hong Kong? Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?
Khalil: Yes - this is the first time for all of us.
Rags: Im coming a week early to check out Hong Kong before the gig. I want to eat lots of noodles, check out the record stores, see some of the islands and run around the city with Harbour Runners.
Snips: I'm really looking forward to seeing the architecture of the city and checking out the local streetwear/sneaker scene.
How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?
Budgie: Its more accessible through technology. The sounds have evolved. Production techniques have been refined.
Snips: Everything has become way more accessible. There are both pros and cons to this.
What was your favourite memory of 2012 and what would you like to achieve in 2013?
Snips: Berlin fashion week and SXSW in Texas. 2013 - World Domination.
Khalil: We put on some of our biggest shows last year with A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and Hudson Mohawke… so probably that.
Rags: The big shows are cool, but we celebrated our 5th birthday of being a night and DJ crew last year… For me, that was our best achievement. In 2013, we all want to travel more so these gigs in Asia are really exciting for us.
What can we expect from your upcoming performance at FLY?
Khalil: A proper hip-hop party!
Aside from your DJ equipment, name you top three touring essentials.
Snips: iPad, a fresh pair of Jordans and a good book.
Rags: That is not true. Snips never reads.
Do you have any pre gig rituals?
Budgie: "Sip" on some "Green Tea"
Rags: Jack Daniels and plenty of it...
Snips: I usually tend to argue about something trivial with at least one member of the team… (Normally Rags).
Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers / artists at the moment?
Budgie: S-Type, Jaisu and Jon Phonics.
Snips: DJs in London I like are Radi Dadi, Motive, CWD. Producers I like… ME!
Rags: There is a whole bunch of music that I like outside of hip-hop as I run an electronic record label. Objekt and Blawan on a more techno tip are 2 artists that we have released. In terms of hip-hop, Joey Badass and Ab Soul are probably the 2 artists that i listen to the most. I also think the UK has some of the best producers at the moment - Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Darq E Freaker and the Livin' Proof crew!
If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?
Budgie: I'd be a 'chef' like Raekwon or a 'Dr.' like Dre
Snips: Probably working in fashion and making more money.
Khalil: Definitely making more money…
