The government has unveiled the "Night Vibes Hong Kong" Campaign, commencing in mid-September, featuring a diverse range of nighttime events that embody the city's unique character. Financial Secretary Paul Chan inaugurated the campaign, acknowledging that despite entering the third quarter, Hong Kong's air services, tourism, and domestic spending have yet to fully rebound from the effects of the global pandemic.
Recognizing the evolving habits of residents, who may not venture out as frequently in the evenings, Mr. Chan highlighted the campaign's role in fostering a vibrant nighttime atmosphere through a plethora of themed activities encompassing leisure, gastronomy, music, culture, and more.
This campaign, spanning from the Mid-Autumn Festival through to early 2024, will encompass a wide array of events along the harbor front, including performances, cultural showcases, markets, and guided tours. Notable highlights include the return of the National Day Fireworks Display, Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, and Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnivals, along with seasonal offerings at Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland.
Additionally, cinemas, museums, shopping malls, and dining establishments will extend their hours and offer special promotions, ensuring a rich tapestry of entertainment options for both residents and tourists. The campaign also aims to enhance the Temple Street night market's appeal through innovative enhancements.
The MTR Corporation is joining the government's night economy initiative with enticing offers like the "Nighttime Delights: Ride 5 Get 1 Free" promotion for passengers traveling at night. They'll also distribute 30,000 MTR Malls eCoupons to boost nighttime shopping. Currently, MTR rail lines operate until 1 am, ensuring safe nighttime transportation. MTR Malls will host special nighttime activities and encourage tenants to extend hours, aiming to invigorate the city's nightlife and promote a vibrant nighttime economy.
