Some of the first industries and individuals that have had to start pausing their work and businesses since 2019, were public event organisers, artists, as well as live music venues in Hong Kong.

Live music venues and live music performances are not allowed to operate under the current restrictions related to the virus concerns in Hong Kong. We have a look at some of the venues we have loved to visit over the years and give you an bit of an update on where they stand right now, as well as what to expect when those still standing do reopen.

The Wanch, a well-known live music institution located in Wan Chai has recently posted on their Facebook page ‘so we have decided to suspend operation of The Wanch until the coronavirus is totally under control’  and ‘We are committed to reopening The Wanch when the time is right’. Hopefully they do get to come back when things get better as we and I am sure many of you have had some truly great nights there. Read their full update below.

The Aftermath have decided to create a number of ways for the public to support the venue while it is closed, including merchandise you can buy to donating directly to the venue. Check out the full details below.

The Hard Rock Café in Lan Kwai Fong has closed, but fortunately we have great news that there will be a new venue there and they will also have live music on offer to its guests when it opens.

Rula Live has told us they are looking forward to opening again and plan to continue with a full monthly local live band schedule each and every month.

We do not have any solid updates on some of the other live music venues including Hidden Agenda: This Town Needs, Amazonia, Dusk Til Dawn, Joe Bananas, Insomnia and Graffiti, but we are looking forward to visiting them all again soon once the Hong Kong Government gives the green light for them all to reopen again.
