Fresh off being named #1 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 list, Mexico City's renowned Handshake Speakeasy is making its way to Hong Kong for a one-night-only event at the Island Shangri-La’s Lobster Bar & Grill on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Known for its innovative cocktail techniques, Handshake, led by Bar Director Eric van Beek, also topped North America's 50 Best Bars 2024. It stands out as the only bar in Mexico with a dedicated cocktail laboratory, where drinks take up to 48 hours to craft, blending molecular mixology with rare vintage spirits for unique twists on classic cocktails.
For this special event, Head Bartender Javier Rodríguez and General Manager Daniela Jardon will present four exclusive cocktails priced at HK$158 each:
- Orange Blossom: Fresh and floral with Monkey 47, vanilla, jasmine, orange blossom, lemon, and whey.
- Oriental Fizz: Herbal and fresh with The Glenlivet 12 Years, lemongrass, ginger, and shiso.
- Pandan One: Aromatic and complex with Martell Noblige, pandan, and coconut.
- Olive Oil Gimlet: Zesty and smooth with Altos Blanco, olive oil, apple, and Lillet Blanco.
Island Shangri-La’s General Manager, Clifford Weiner, expressed excitement about hosting the event, saying: "Their mastery of rare spirits and unmatched technique will bring a world-class mixology experience to our guests."
Established in 2018, Handshake Speakeasy is known for its high-end classic cocktails, served in a secret, elegant art deco space, reminiscent of the 1920s speakeasy era.
