WHO ARE THE FOUR BEST BANDS of 2006?
(listed in alphabetical order!)
GAROUPA - rock -
Great songs. Great performances. Garoupa are a tasty five-piece dish who
have recently been stomping through some fine live sets on stage and local
radio in Hong Kong. They serve up a unique blend of original rock tunes.
Garoupa are guaranteed to to grab you - hook, line and sinker - then have
you coming back to stuff your ears all over again.
GRIN - pop rock -
We are GriN.
We formed in July 2004, when we were still a 4-pieces-band.
We composed our first song 'Peppermint' and participated in
the ComicFest HeartBeat competition 2004, where we met our guitarist Hei.
In 2005, together with a few other songs, we played in many bandshows,
and also some competition like 'World battle of the bands 2005', 'ComicFest
HeartBeat Competition 2005' etc. We won the 1st runners up in the ComicFest
Bandsound competition, and also squeezed into the Regional final of the world
battle of the bands, which were our major achievements through the whole 2005.
The story still goes on and we are planning to write more songs ,record our demo
CDs, and let our music being heard everywhere.
SPODAC - rock -
Spodac is a group of well-seasoned musicians and songwriters
from four continents. Each member brings a unique element to
their original songwriting, creating an eclectic yet uniform set of
heavy at times, fast at times, and always melodious music. With
roots in early hardcore, late metal, progressive rock and a touch
of eighties kitsch, Spodac have a sound that transcends conventional
labels. Spodac deliver a powerful performance that melds awesome
technical ability and heartfelt songwriting, making their stage presence
a thing to behold. Wondering where the name Spodac originates? You
won’t find the word in any language. Spodac is something that you just
have to figure out for yourself. If you dig the music, you are Spodac.
THE TRAIN - punk -
‘THE TRAIN’ is 3 men rock band in Hong Kong in Punk and Brit Pop style.
We love to play the music with full energies and make people having fun.
We formed the band 9 years ago and went to the final stage of ‘Carlsberg
Music Festival’ in 1997 and 1998. After a long break, our band re-united
2 years ago and won the Champion and the Best Bassist of ‘Budweiser True
Music Competition’ in 2005. Also, we performed in ‘Battle of the Band 2004’
and we are entering into the finals of ‘World Battle of the Band 2006’ this year.
We often perform at music festivals and gigs in different venues around Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union today announced the ticketing policy for the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2007 (30 March – 1 April 2007 at the Hong Kong Stadium).
As in years past, tickets will first be assigned to all HKRFU Member Clubs to ensure all their members are given priority for tickets and to encourage the continued growth of their memberships.
Following the successful public ticket sale last December at the Hong Kong Stadium, the HKRFU will once again use this method for ticket sales to Hong Kong residents. The public will have only one opportunity on December 9 2006 to buy tickets for the Sevens. Sales will be limited to 4 tickets per person. The 4 tickets can consist of a combination of Adult and Children's Tickets. Children's tickets will be limited and sold on a first come, first served basis.
The HKRFU have again appointed Official Travel Agents for the event and Cathay Pacific, the official airline of the Hong Kong Sevens, will be supplied tickets for its overseas travel packages. Tickets will not be available on the internet.
Mr Allan Payne, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union commented on the ticketing policy saying, “The HKRFU have determined to again use this model of ticket distribution as it has proved very successful in the past two years. The ticketing policy is designed to meet the ever increasing demand for tickets to the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens, while ensuring that members of the Hong Kong rugby community and local sevens supporters have the first priority to obtain their tickets.”
Pricing
Ticket prices for the Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2007 will remain the same as in 2006 at HK$880 per adult and HK$300 per child up to the age of 12 years old.
