Tell us a little bit about how you got started as an artist? Who was your biggest inspiration?
Joven : I can't really remember when I started loving music, I guess I was born like that but I started my DJ career in 1997 when I was only 15. I first started on a small radio station followed by my first club residency just a year after. I think my family was my biggest inspiration as music/media runs through my family. I met Cyprian in 2004 when we started our Tenishia adventure
Cyprian : I was always into music from a very young age, but the first time i tried an instrument was at the age of 10 when my dad bought me my first piano. From then I started learning the classical piano and also guitar. At the age of 15 I was introduced to trance music and I immediately knew that i wanted to produce this kind of music, so that is when i starting working on my first little studio. Then in 2004 my journey with joven as tenishia beganCyprian :
Will this be your first time in Macao? Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?
Yes it is our first time to Macau and we heard it's very beautiful so we can't wait to get there.
What was your favourite memory of 2013 and what do you have planned for 2014?
There is too many good memories in 2013 to mention, it's been a big big year.. But some highlights were surely Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival in Buenos Aires and the Tenishia in Concert in Malta where we invited most of the singers we have worked with in the previous months for live performances and adding other live elements to it with Piano and Guitar
What can we expect from your upcoming performance at Cubic Macao?
We've heard that this club is top of the range so we're surely looking forward for this. We do play as we go along, spontaneously and depending on the crowd. Obviously won't miss some of our own tracks of course, like 'Where do we Begin' and some exclusive Tenishia Mash Ups that we have recently created
What are your top three touring essentials?
We have toured quite a bit now, played in all different continents and what we learned is to travel as light as possible as it makes everything much easier. The obvious essentials have gotten lighter these last years as music is now carried in USBs, and long gone are the days where we carried heavy vinyl bags around. Another essential though is the laptop, which keeps our business as usual with the Music Industry, answering e-mails and keeping up to date with what's going on is very important
Do you have any pre gig rituals?
Yes, a good rest followed by a nice dinner!
Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming artists at the moment?
I think talent is flourishing at the moment but if we have to pick we would choose Andrew Rayel... He is very musical and has great sound in his productions
If you weren’t an artist what would you be doing?
Trying to be one!
