Funky Parisian Musical Duo Brahms & Co Bringing ‘Love & Happiness’ to zuma

Funky Parisian musical duo Brahms & Co will be headlining at Central’s favourite late night party venue zuma every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from July 21 to August 13.  They are introducing a uniquely hip, vibrant nightlife experience to Hong Kong, who has previously performed at the Bed Supper Club in Bangkok, Pershing Hall in Paris, catwalk shows for Dior and Gucci as well as in zuma Dubai.

With an eclectic mix of turntables, a talk box and trumpet, Brahms & Co defy categorisation with fusions of Funk, Soul Latin, Arabic, Brazil, Filipino and Ethiopian jazz beats – influenced by such musical greats as James Brown, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield.  They combine salsa and house, Beyonce with belly dance trance and James Bond action with jazz.

Their sets start jazzy and slow, building up progressively to what they describe as a special mission – “taking audiences somewhere they’ve never been before”.  “This musical trip has a different destination for everyone, but basically it comes down to love and happiness,” says Co.   Otherwise known as Corentin de Vos, he plays the trumpet and talk box, a device first used by Stevie Wonder and made popular by Daft Punk.  He began improvising with DJ Brahim Mandich at a club in Paris a decade ago, and the duo have since been in hot demand at clubs worldwide, from Japan, China, Singapore, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand to the UK , Middle East and USA  Brahms & Co (www.brahmsandco.com) have performed for audiences of all sizes and scored music for films and fashion shows, including Gucci, Dior and Zenga.

Split-level zuma, accessed from the Queen’s Road entrance of The Landmark, is renowned for hosting some of Hong Kong’s top nightclub events.  Bringing in DJs from around the world, the vibrant nightspot is one of Hong Kong’s trendiest venues with a state-of-the-art sound system, funky décor and vast floor to ceiling windows looking out over an exclusive outdoor terrace.

The lounge bar is linked by a stunning spiral staircase to contemporary Japanese restaurant zuma Hong Kong, ranked in the world's top 100 in the S.Pellegrino World’s Best Restaurants Awards in 2009.
