CANTON DISCO presents a CANTON X MARTELL event:


Hong Kong’s most iconic nightclub of the 1980s CANTON DISCO is staging a one-night comeback event on Saturday May 17, in partnership with MARTELL to celebrate its 40th anniversary.


With its original founder, nightclub impresario and celebrated DJ, Andrew Bull ( DJ El Toro) still at the helm, the night, which will be held at TRILOGY in Central from 18.30pm to -04.00am promises to be a glamourous nostalgia filled-tribute to the 80s and Hong Kong’s nightlife heyday when Canton Disco reigned supreme in Tsim Sha Tsui as Hong Kong’s most edgy nightspot, regularly welcoming the likes of Leslie Cheung, Danny Chan, Anita Mui and many international visiting celebrities like Eartha Kitt, The Pet Shop Boys and Sylvester Stallone.


Canton’s Grand Opening in 1985 hosted by global super-diva DIVINE, set the stage for a million unforgettable moments big and small that changed many minds and careers forever. It was Kowloon’s mighty, 9-times-a-week 80’s party that inspired a generation of creative Hong Kongers across the entire spectrum of society, both on-and-off-line and in a thousand aspects of Hong Kong’s life and culture.


It’s 40 YEARS since those funky retro 3-D binocular viewers were first delivered across HK and the world as CANTON DISCO’s Opening Gala Invitation, giving the world its first glimpse of designer Alan Chan’s timeless Canton Discotheque ‘Swimming & Diving Man’ visual identity where, ‘Time Stops, Space Begins’ (now featured in the M+ Museum as an icon of Hong Kong contemporary culture). But long after the original space on Canton Road gave way to become the flagship HERMES store, the spirit of CANTON DISCO lives on and its many fans and devotees still celebrate its legacy, both offline and online.


Expect to see some of the original CANTON DISCO DJ team, bartenders and regular on-stage artistes live at the event, including guest appearances from some serious celebrity names.
