After the successful debut of “The Aubrey After Dark” last weekend, this Friday, The Aubrey welcomes DJ Skinny Macho, joining Andrew and Cosmo on the decks. Skinny is known for his broad musical tastes and versatility as a selector, seamlessly supporting artists ranging from Zomby to Pharrell Williams. He’s equally adept at igniting dance floors in far-flung locations like Montreal, South Africa, Moscow, and Shanghai, as well as in more local venues like Gilles Peterson’s events in South London. His global sound mirrors his increasingly international schedule.
Skinny Macho started his career as a music editor for Tim and Barry's "dontwatchthat.tv" before being picked up by Boiler Room, where he became a key programmer. As one of Virgil Abloh's closest advisers, his influence extended further into the music and fashion industries.
At NTS Radio, he initially deputized for Boiler Room co-founder Thris Tian on the “Dark & Lovely Global Roots” show before earning his own show. This platform has featured guests like Mall Grab, Zomby, Nosaj Thing, Dedekind Cut, Nguzunguzu, and Rejjie Snow, whom he supported as a tour DJ.
As the Global Roots club nights have grown, so has Skinny Macho's presence, with DJ dates and his record label/club night BONE SODA gaining prominence. His collaborations with the late Virgil Abloh includes projects like Imaginary FM and a Rinse France takeover at Off White™ Paris. From dancefloors to airwaves, Skinny Macho's relentless drive and passion for music are evident in all he does.
Our local favourite JJ Brian, will be spinning vinyl in the front bar. He stands out as one of Hong Kong's rarely found vinyl DJs. His eclectic sets cover a wide spectrum of global dance music, ensuring a night full of diverse and electrifying tunes. As the founder of the art and entertainment label 8.0.5.5., he has collaborated with various musicians, DJs, rappers, dancers, artists, graffiti artists, and influencers to elevate Hong Kong's music scene.
