Hey there hep cats! Peel St. Poets & Poetry OutLoud invite you to join us for THE BEAT GOES ON, a celebration of Beat Poetry and the 65th anniversary of the first public reading of Allen Ginsberg’s history making long poem, HOWL. On Oct. 7, 1955 in San Francisco MC Kenneth Rexroth introduced poets Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Michael McClure, Phillip Whalen & Phillip Lamantia and launched a Literary revolution known as ‘The Beats.” The world of poetry has never been then same. Featuring readings from the works of Ginsberg, Snyder, Kerouac, McClure, Amiri Baraka, Frank O’Hara, Hettie Jones and other prominent Beat Writers, as well as tributes to the Beats and responses to famous Beat poems. And dig this, Daddy-o, some readings will be accompanied by live music in true Beat poetry fashion. Admission is free and drinks are 2 for 1 until 9, so don’t be a square, man, come join us.
